Ileana Appleton Foster Land Forms

June 18, 2020

"Embossing is always a part of my work; the relief, layers, depth. You could view it as another land form, land shift - whatever you want to see.

Combining my love for landscape and toning down the chaos that surrounds us -  simplifying into just lines and textures - is restorative and therapeutic. That's how I began with blind embossing. Purely focusing on the lines and overall abstract viewpoint of how these shapes can be assembled together- it's not meant to be loud but more subtle, silent and behind the scenes. Adding color to some pieces adds a new level of reacting happiness.

People respond to shapes and textures, and I'm hoping people can take a step back and find simple joy in viewing a simple form." - Ileana Appleton Foster
