Page Gallery is pleased to present Salt Wind, an exhibition of paintings by Tom Curry, Colin Page, and Ray Roberts. These paintings reflect the enduring character and changing conditions of Maine's coastal waters.

Each artist, known for his distinct approach to the seascape, looks closely at the coast as a place of shifting light, weather, and atmosphere. Tom Curry returns to his signature subject, Chatto Island, in a series that considers the varied effects of time of day, weather, and season through a singular compositional form. Colin Page paints the islands of Penobscot Bay through the clarity of coastal air, attentive to the subtle effects of light and atmosphere across the water. Ray Roberts captures the drama of crashing waves along Pemaquid’s rocky shore, using chromatic neutrals and earth tones to convey the force of moving water and the boldness of changing light.

Sky and sea fill these compositions, with distant islands bisecting the horizon or rocky landforms pushing into the foreground. This exhibition shows the restless nature of the Maine coast: a squall gathering, dawn fog giving way to sudden sun, humidity softening the edges of a sunny day. The color of the sea follows the sky, visibility expands and contracts with the passing air. These artists focus their attention on reading and rendering ever-shifting views of the sea along the coast of Maine.

This exhibit is on view September 17 - October 9, 2026. Join us for an opening reception, Thursday, September 17 from 5-7pm.
