Ray Roberts (b. 1954) grew up among the orange groves of Orange County, California, giving him an enduring affection for the untamed, undeveloped landscape. Roberts graduated from the Orme School, a ranch-style boarding school in the Arizona desert with a strong arts program. Roberts has a degree from the ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena, California.
Like many successful artists before him, Roberts first pursued a career as an illustrator, establishing a studio in Los Angeles and then Scottsdale, Arizona. He transitioned to a career in fine art in 1992 and has never looked back. He currently teaches figure and landscape workshops across the country and abroad. Ray Roberts and his wife, Peggi Kroll-Roberts, live on a 20-acre ranch in Angels Camp, an old California gold rush town, surrounded by the oak-studded hills.
