Bio

Marcelle Reinecke (b. 1989, New Orleans, LA) received an MFA from The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA), Philadelphia, PA and a BFA from Marywood University, Scranton, PA. Reinecke also completed studies at the Studio Arts College International, Florence, Italy and was a Resident Artist at the Royal Drawing School, Dumfries House Trust, Cumnock, Scotland, U.K. Recent exhibitions include Steven Harvey Fine Art Projects, NY, NY; Alice Amati, London, UK; Ruffed Grouse Gallery, Narrowsburg, NY; and Monya Rowe Gallery, NY. Reinecke's work is in the public collection of the X Museum, Beijing, China. Before dedicating herself fully to painting, Reinecke spent more than a decade working as a woodworker. During her four years living in Maine, she worked in the furniture industry in Lewiston and Auburn, including with the renowned Maine furniture company Thos. Moser, alongside other regional makers. This background in craftsmanship continues to inform her attention to materiality, construction, and the quiet narratives embedded in everyday objects. The artist lives and works in Honesdale, PA, and is represented by Monya Rowe Gallery, NY.
