Ben Potter grew up in Tennessee and lives in Belfast Maine. He studied Art and Biology at Williams College and received an MFA from the California College of the Arts. Ben taught at colleges in Wisconsin, Vermont, and currently teaches at Unity University in Maine. His paintings explore the interstices between different materials and forms. Ben's paintings exist in a liminal space between the everyday and the extraordinary, abstraction and representation, inviting us to see them in new light.
"These pieces are derived from patterns found in the landscape and examine how we experience and make sense of our surroundings. I work with the connotations of materials and the nuance they lend to the work."
