Atieh Sohrabi

Atieh Sohrabi is a Tehran-born illustrator and painter, based in New York City since 2015. Her work has been exhibited internationally, including at the Biennale of Illustrations Bratislava and LACMA, where her painting "Saturday Nights" entered the museum's collection and was later included in the exhibition, "Women Defining Women in Contemporary Art of the Middle East and Beyond." In 2022, Meta commissioned Sohrabi to create illustrations celebrating Nowruz for Instagram and Facebook.

Sohrabi's recent paintings center women as complex, self-possessed subjects, depicting bodies and relationships outside conventional ideals with warmth and empathy. Pattern, color, and decorative motifs rooted in Persian visual traditions weave through her work, creating richly layered images that honor memory, identity, and human connection.
