Bio
Amy Lowry is a self-taught artist, author, and illustrator of four children’s books published by Holiday House, New York. Lowry works in a variety of media, favoring ink and gouache for her book illustrations and oil for her landscapes. She also creates mosaic and collage pieces, drawing inspiration from current events as well as the changing seasonal landscapes around her.
In the early 1990s, Lowry spent four years in Beijing studying traditional rice-paper painting before moving to Chicago in 1994, where she lived for two decades. She discovered mosaic in 2005 through the Chicago Mosaic School, later serving as president of the board. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, including Milan, Beijing, Chicago, TX, and Rockland, Maine. She has been featured in numerous publications, including, Maine Magazine and The New York Times.
