Amelia MacDougall (b.1999) is the artist behind Coppice Tree Hooking, a rug hooking studio based in Rockland, Maine. She is originally from the Tantramar region of the Canadian Maritimes. The name “Tantramar” derives from an old French term loosely translating to “the sound of bird chatter,” a fitting origin for an artist whose practice is deeply attuned to place and the natural world. Raised by the marsh, MacDougall’s work is grounded in an intimate connection to landscape, ecology, and memory.
