Bio

Ken DeWaard (b. 1962) is a plein air painter based in Hope, Maine. Ken DeWaard studied painting at the American Academy of Art in Chicago and continued his early training at the acclaimed Palette and Chisel Academy of Fine Art. Ken lived and painted in the Driftless area of Wisconsin for 14 years before moving to Maine with his family.

Ken DeWaard is known for his atmospheric landscapes and sensitive depictions of rural life, coastal scenes, and architecture. DeWaard's expressive paintings of rural New England show an appreciation for craftsmanship, tradition, and place. He is drawn to what is weathered and enduring. DeWaard has a strong sense of composition and structure. His paintings have a classic, timeless feel, and capture the quiet beauty of everyday scenes.

Ken DeWaard has taught workshops around the country since the late 1990s. Read more and register for Ken DeWaard's workshops in Maine.
